WHY DO LIPS DRY DURING WINTER
Saliva is drying, so the more you lick your lips, the drier they get. Start applying Vaseline regularly to your lips, and dont lick them at all.
Our natural reaction when having dry lips is to lick or even bite the lips. We are actually doing the wrong thing, and in fact, this can make the situation go worse that would result to bleeding. To treat chapped lips is to moisturize it.
The main key in preventing or treating chapped lips is by using some moisturizing Chapstick. It is not that expensive and can easily be purchased in any retail and drugstores. For best results, buy Chapstick that has phenol, beeswax, and sunscreen content or purchase some products that are rich in aloe Vera and vitamin E. Always remember to bring your Chapstick wherever you go the whole year especially during winter seasons. Applying Chapstick regularly will help your lips become more moist and smooth.
Flavored lip balms or Chapsticks should be avoided. Flavored lip balms are not good for children for it will tempt them from licking their lips that can cause dry lips. There are some lipsticks that contain strong chemicals that can cause our lips to dry.
To prevent from having chapped lips, make sure that you always use a good Chapstick when you plan to go outside. You can place it everywhere you want because it is so tiny that you can even put it in your pocket. If you had been outside for sometime, especially during winter seasons, reapply your Chapstick for several times. This will prevent your lips from cracking and going dry. There will be times when you happen to forget your Chapstick while you are outside, you can also try some alternatives simply by rubbing the sides of your nose using your fingers and applying it to your lips. The oils in your skin will help keep your lips smooth.
Being hydrated can also prevent chapped lips. Always drink plenty of water or some fluids to keep you hydrated. During the winter seasons and hot months are the time when most people suffer from chapped lips. Always remember to bring a bottle of water wherever you go.
Another cause of chapped lips is when a person gets sick. If a person catches fever or colds, they are likely to have chapped lips. The use of Chapstick, eating the right food, and drinking lots of water can make the lips more moisturized and smooth. Vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins and minerals can prevent and treat chapped lips that would make you feel better.
